PROFESSOR JESSE VAN VLACK

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Professor Jesse has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 15 years, has earned his black belt, and has been teaching for 10 years in local gyms and at Queen's University. Professor Jesse is part owner of van Jango Studio of Martial Arts.

AIMEE VAN VLACK

Business Manager

Aimee Van Vlack brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in customer relations and management. She has worked in the Kingston community as an activist and in politics, with a goal of making Kingston a better place for everyone. Aimee is a part owner of van Jango Studio of Martial Arts.

Coach Evan brings his experience and immeasurable passion for Muay Thai to the table. Proud recipient of a Bronze Medal from the 2019 Ontario Provincials for MTO. Coach Evan is also a purple belt in Jui Jitsu under Professor Jesse. Because of his knowledge in both, Coach Evan also teaches our MMA classes.

Coach Jordan has been wrestling competitively with the Kingston Wrestling Club since high school and has represented the University of Guelph Varsity Wrestling Team during his undergrad. He has a wealth of experience coaching young wrestlers and athletes, and brings a high-energy approach to the practice room.

COACH LIAM HORTON

COACH JOHN CHARRON

Coach John is currently enrolled in Teachers College at Queen's. He has done BJJ for five years, wrestling for eight years, and striking arts for most of his life. With a strong passion for teaching, John is ready to improve the next generation's skills in self-defense and combat sports. Coach John is a purple belt under Professor Jesse.

COACH DANIEL GOEL

​Daniel is an active amateur Muay Thai fighter training locally in Kingston. He won the B class -71 kg division in the 2024 CMTO tournament and currently holds an amateur record of 6-1 with 10 total fights. He attends Queens University and is studying psychology and philosophy in a joint honours degree. He aspires to pursue fighting professionally following graduation.

Coach Ty Voigt

Coach Ty Voigt has over a decade of experience in striking, including fighting in amateur and professional boxing, Muay Thai, and K1 Kickboxing. He also has experience coaching students from their very first amateur fights to professional world championships in boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA. Ty has traveled all over Canada and the USA learning from many great coaches and fighters. His goal is to pass on what he's learned to future boxers on their path in martial arts.

Coach Thomas Cudmore

​Thomas recently earned a degree in Physics from Queen’s University, where he also discovered his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His journey began at the Queen’s BJJ club, where he eventually became president, and in 2023, Thomas earned his blue belt under Professor Jesse. He has a deep love for teaching Jiu-Jitsu to people of all ages and is committed to continuing his journey as both a practitioner and educator.

COACH LIAM HORTON

In Loving Memory

1995 - 2024

Coach Liam was significant in starting and building van Jango Studio. Coach Liam Horton was a member of Queen's Varsity and KWC's wrestling teams since 2022, and was named Queen's Varsity Wrestling Team's 2023 MVP. He was our friend and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

PROFESSOR GREGG KING

Professor Gregg King is a 2nd degree BJJ Black Belt under Professor Hugo Fevrier, a 4th Degree BJJ Black Belt, Owner and Founder of the Tropa De Elite, currently residing in the South of France.

Professor Gregg owns King Jiu Jitsu and is a Sport Jiu Jitsu competitor focusing a lot on the Self-Defense aspect of JiuJitsu. He is Very Passionate about the Art of JiuJitsu and Sharing that passion with the students.
